Now this story happened far more than two hundred years ago. This story has it's beginning at the dawn of time. You see, God had disappeared from heaven. He was gone for 6 days, and everything was in shambles. The heavenly host were singing off key, St. Peter was throwing temper tantrums, the polish was off the halos. On the morning of the seventh day, God came striding back in to heaven, calling for Peter.

"Where have you been God? We've been worried sick!" Said Peter.

"Peter, I've been making a world, you've got to see it!" And God so loved his world that he took Peter to see it. "You see this world Peter, everything here is in balance. For I have separated the light from the dark and the waters from the firmament. This big land mass on this side of the world, with the smaller one beneath it... One day this one will be called North America, and the other one will be South America. Balance. And over here on the other side of the world, you see this huge land in the north, well the people here will have pale skin, and light eyes, and the weather will be cold. And you see down here below that, this land where the people have dark skin and eyes and live in the warmth. Balance I tell you.

Peter then said "Hey God, what about this tiny little island up here. The northern part of the island is beautiful, the most amazing mountains, the most beautiful lochs, and the people, why they have the biggest hearts, and the most noble characters. You have destroyed the balance of your entire creation."

And God said, "Ah Peter, there is balance, just wait 'til you see who I've given the Scots for neighbors!"
