First Verse
James the first, a mighty king, went riding up to Fife
when along came Graham to take his life
The prince stood by and forced to watch his father doom
The canons at the funeral went Boom boom boom.

The prince became a mighty king
Yet Douglas did deny the reign
So war between the crown and clan began.

Chorus
The King ruled the land, but canons ruled the king
Childhood events echoed through his reign

When does a man fight against his king
When does a king fight for his reign
When does a land learn to fight no more
When the canons cease to roar.

Second Verse
The clan was strong and many thought that they would win the war
But James the second and his canon's evened up the score
Castle after castle fell, the Douglas's were doomed
The canons won the war with their Boom Boom Boom

Once the Douglas's were done
A war with England had begun.
The king would never backdown from a fight.

Chorus

Third Verse
The siege of castle Roxburgh was first to feel the weight
Of King and Canon pounding at the castle gate.
In the siege a canon blew; the king was standing by.
Although the castle fell, the king did die.

By canons, James the second bloomed
By his passion was consumed
The siege of England was his final stand.

Chorus

Fourth Verse
The prince was only ten when his life was scarred
The prince's view of war was forever marred
The new king would be haunted by his father's doom
The canons echoed is his head boom boom boom

James the third showed leniency
Yet nobles sought authority
Til finally the two would go to war

Chorus
