The infamous Drumochter Pass was a formidable, natural barrier to the Highlands until, in the early eighteenth century, General Wade built his military roads. Today, once across this lofty boundary whether by rail or the main A9, the Great North Road, an unrivalled region is entered, rich in history and awe-inspiring vistas.
